Job Description:
Primary position for rating & underwriting Primary Employers Indemnity/Non-Subscription Coverage. This position includes direct communication with agents and carrier contacts.
Essential Functions:
* Review of incoming submissions & correspondence via phone, fax, postal mail and email
* Qualifying & Underwriting submissions based on defined Underwriting guidelines
* Rating qualified submissions based on defined rating criteria.
* Communication with producer and carrier contacts as required.
* Inputting policy data as required for the preparation and issuance of quotes, binders and policies
* Review reports as needed monthly; quarterly; annually
* Other duties and task as requested from management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of principles and processes for underwriting Primary Employers Indemnity/Non-Subscription Coverage
* Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products and Outlook
* Strong verbal and written skills; Active listening skills to understand clients needs
* Ability to work with limited supervision
* Must be detailed oriented, ability to problem solve and be a resourceful, solutions oriented person
* Must be able to work in a paperless environment and adhere to department workflow processes, file documentation and diary systems
* High School education or GED equivalent
* 5 years previous experience in the Insurance Industry
* 3 years Underwriting Experience of Primary Employers Indemnity/Non-Subscription Coverage or Workers Compensation.
* General knowledge of property and casualty coverages
* Experience with Surplus lines taxes and practices
