Primary Purpose:
This is an exceptional opportunity for an adult learning professional, who desires to leverage his/her experience to directly impact the bottom-line of an organization through the implementation of training and development programs. The Training and Development Manager (TDM) is responsible for designing and implementing position-specific and career development-related programs to elevate the professional competence and the customer service orientation of the organization. The aspiration is to create training and development programs that are a true source of long-term competitive advantage for the company. This is a role with extreme importance with high visibility at the CEO and executive levels, and reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Essential Functions:
Determine the types of training needed, identifying the best methods for providing the training and developing training material
Work with business leaders, managers and internal subject-matter-experts to identify training needs and trends within the business
Design practical programs which include a blended approach to learning including e-learning, classroom training, 1-2-1 sessions, action learning, etc.
Create necessary testing and certification for evaluation purposes (e.g. written tests, role plays, group role plays, etc.)
Develop library of materials, documentation, videos, recorded webcasts, etc. for ongoing reference and learning purposes
Liaise with other functional/departmental managers to ensure they are fully informed of staff training and development objectives, purposes and achievements
Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary staff training and development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers and staff within the organization
Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement
Prepare training budget for organization
Requirements
Qualifications: The following is a list of experience, technologies, credentials, skills and other items which are required for this position
Ability to create and implement various methods of blended learning via e-training, visual aids, instructional guides and classroom learning
Plan, develop and implement strategy for staff training and development, with special emphasis on driving functional competence/expertise and customer service orientation
Bachelors degree. Masters or additional education in communication, human resource management or business management and development preferred
3+ years of experience in front-line staff development and position-specific training
3+ years of experience of designing and delivering a variety of training solutions
History of demonstrated project management skills
Strong communicator, both in written and spoken communications
Organized, and a self-starter
History of achieving and exceeding goals
Strong critical thinking, problem identification and solving ability
The following list represents additional items which are not required but which will be considered preferred from the standpoint of selecting the most-qualified candidate for this role:
Training experience in the service industries, call centers or logistics
Track record of success in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
Certified Training Professional a plus
Implemented and/or leveraged an existing Learning Management System
