Job summary


The Statutory Tax Analyst II ensures all required statutory documents are obtained and on file prior to processing and paying invoices subject to IRS 1099 and 1042 rules and regulations. Communicates with accounts payable the proper vendor setup instructions and tax withholding requirements, as applicable. Assist with 1099 and 1042 IRS annual reporting. This individual may also prepare reports and analysis of financial information for business unit leaders
Responsibilities

* Responsible for reviewing invoices payable to all non-US vendors and member firms to determine US Source Income.
* Responsible to ensure the required statutory documentation (i.e. W8, W8 BEN, ECI, etc.) is current and on file prior to processing and payment of applicable invoices.
* Communicate with vendors/member firms to obtain required documentation if not on file.
* Educate vendors/member firms on US Sourced Income requirements.
* Responsible for reviewing the CMT to ensure current contract is on file prior to processing and payment of invoices payable to independent contractors.
* Responsible for reviewing invoices to determine the need to obtain a valid W-9 from US Vendors to support their tax position regarding US tax withholding.
* Communicate with accounts payable proper vendor setup instructions and tax withholding requirements.
* Assist with annual summarization of 1099 and 1042 information to support annual reporting to the IRS.
* Assist with annual review of 1099 B-notices received from the IRS to obtain required documentation to support removal of accompanying penalties from IRS.
* Assist with special projects and other statutory related matters, as requested.

Review the descriptions on invoices for goods/services purchased from non-US vendors/member firms and applying the IRS rules and regulations to determine the extent of the payment which may be subject to IRS 1042 reporting.
*
Review invoices from US vendors and apply the IRS rules and regulations to determine if the vendor is subject to US 1099 withholding and reporting requirements.
*
Demonstrates healthy skepticism when analyzing transactional data to determine what should be included in the Firm's 1042 and 1099 reporting.
* Identifies issues that may create potential financial exposure and/or risk to the Firm. Determine the root cause of these issues and recommend solutions consistent with established policies and applicable tax laws and regulations.
Knowledge and skills requirements

* Advanced knowledge of accounts payable, tax, accounting principles, and internal controls.
* Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Advanced knowledge of the Firm's business, organization structure, policies, and financial applications (i.e. GFIS Accounts Payable, iClick, Microsoft applications, etc.)
* Ability to comprehend firm communications, announcements, other change management initiatives, etc. and correlate these changes to the core accounting procedures, and develop recommendations to incorporate these changes and/or impacts into the accounting policies and/or procedures, as appropriate.
* Exhibits a positive attitude and approach, willingly accepts new challenges, flexible and accepting of change.
* Committed to delivering quality work, demonstrate a willingness to team with others, and help create a positive work environment.
* Performs duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and guidance from Senior Statutory Tax Analyst and/or Assistant Director of Tax with a high degree of independence and autonomy.
* May review the work of less experienced staff and provide feedback accordingly.
Experience

* Minimum of 3 to 6 years of progressive related statutory tax, accounts payable, accounting or related experience.
* Must have accounts payable experience.
Education
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
