Description:
The Dallas office of Vess Oil Corporation is seeking an experienced Engineer to support functions related to its SEC reporting requirements, M&A activity and bank/private equity sponsor reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
Provide year-end and mid-year reserve reports/reconciliations for SEC and bank/private equity sponsor reporting requirements
Generate production and operating expense variance reports (budget versus actual)
Support engineering, geologic and executive team in identifying and evaluating drilling as well as acquisition/divestiture opportunities by:
quantifying reserves and economic potential
identifying reservoir, operational and commercial risk
Build and model cases in PHDWin or Aries using economic and projection parameters
Create, maintain, and assist with departmental files and data distribution to team members and outside parties
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
Monitor, evaluate, and analyze production information for existing producing base
Provide recommendations for well stimulations, recompletions, and repairs
Perform post-completion analysis including: tracking well performance, documenting results and developing solutions to improve performance
Requirements:
8-10-year industry experience with an upstream E&P company working as a reservoir or M&A consultant or in a financial institution
Bachelors Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering or related
Must be well versed in MS Office programs, especially Excel, as well as PHDWin and Aries reserve programs
Strong computer, written and communication skills
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to prioritize projects

Founded in 1979, Vess Oil Corporation (“Vess Oil”) has operated oil and natural gas properties in Kansas for more than 30 years and, according to statistics furnished by the Kansas Geological Survey, was the second largest operator of oil properties in Kansas measured by production during 2010. Vess Oil currently operates over 1,600 oil, natural gas and service wells located primarily in Kansas, with growing operations in Texas, Montana and Oklahoma. From its inception, Vess Oil has concentrated on acquisitions in addition to the development and exploitation of its existing reserve base and recently has expanded its focus on exploration activities.
