Job Details: Job Title: Multi-Skilled Technician I Job Code: Description: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the Unit Manager, Team Leader, and/or Licensed Staff. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and drawing blood.
Typical Duties: -Adheres to the Networks Policy and Procedures and related standards of work behavior. -Assist with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm. -Assists and performs activities as assigned by the licensed nurse and within the scope of practice as outlined on the skills competency form. -Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established PAR levels. -Change dressings on wounds. -Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. -Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required. -Dispose of contaminated supplies. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients. -Inventory and order medical, lab, and office supplies and equipment. -Keep financial records and perform other bookkeeping duties, such as handling credit and collections and mailing monthly statements to patients. -Maintains a safe, clean work environment. -Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed. -Obtains and records vital signs, I/O's, weights, basic ECD monitoring, venipunctures, bedside testing, and documents in the patient record as directed by the licensed nurse. -Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests. -Participates in the PI process. -Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation and completing insurance forms. -Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage. -Performs clerical functions (fax, copier, computer, printer, insurance coding, patient charges, and telephone). -Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients. -Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
Qualifications: High School graduate, GED, or equivalent required. Completion of a Nurse Assistant Training Program required. Current certification from the Texas Department of Health required. Two years experience as a CNA required. Completion of basic ECG course, Phlebotomy, Medical Terminology courses and CPR ompletion of Multi-Skilled Care Giver program, Patient Care Assistant program, Medical Assistant program, or any other approved program which provides Multi-Skilled knowledge required. Two years experience as a Multi-Skilled Technician preferred. Completion of basic ECG course, Phlebotomy, Medical Terminology courses and CPR ompletion of approved Emergency Care Course (EMT, EMT-P) required. Current certification from the Texas Department of Health required. Two years experience as an EMT, EMT-P preferred. Completion of basic ECG course, Phlebotomy, Medical Terminology courses and CPR raduated from an accredited nursing school. Completion of basic ECG course and CPR required. CPR Certification. Requires completion of Unit Specific Competency Based Orientation program within the first 90 days of employment.
